PREVIEW: Introduction to Value Management and Value Engineering
- The completion of this course automatically awards minimum 10 CPD points to anyone in a profession in the construction industry
- Inclusion of your understanding of VM/VE methodologies and techniques will undoubtedly enhance credibility of your bids for major projects
My objective is to get Value Management (VM) and Value Engineering (VE) clearly understood by people in the construction and manufacturing industries. You need to understand that these powerful methodologies can cut hundreds of millions to billions of dollars off CAPEX, but there are National Standards, complex techniques and discipline needed to make it work.
This program teaches you what you need to know in order to start using VM and VE for your major projects.
Personally, my long career has been dedicated to facilitating timely decisions on selecting a preferred option from a series of conflicting options on major infrastructure projects around the world. In many instances this has saved significant amounts of money and time while retaining quality and integrity in the project being considered.
This has included projects in the billions of dollars, such as Panama Canal, London CrossRail, Hong Kong’s MTR route expansion, and Gina Reinhardt’s $10B Roy-Hill mining project, as well as my time as the Chairman of the original Australian Standards Committee for Value Management. The methodology I use, and have continued to develop, is called (Project) Value Management, (sometimes known as ‘Optioneering’). Equally, I have worked to achieve substantial CAPEX reductions on such projects using Value Engineering (VE). VM and VE are essentially the same methodology, however techniques within the two methodologies differ, and the time and the life of the project these techniques are applied determine whether the intervention is called VM or VE.
The full training program is comprised of five one-hour training modules delivered on-line through a personalized link.
